Shiver

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater is the first book of The Werewolves of Mercy Falls series.

Grace is a seventeen year old girl, but when she was younger, she was attacked by the wolves who lived in the forest behind her house and was bitten. There and then was the first time she saw the wolf with the yellow eyes. Her wolf. She watches him everyday from her window in the winter, but he disappears in the other seasons.

Sam is an eighteen year old werewolf. He changes into a wolf every winter and changes back in the spring, but his years as human are numbered, as are the rest of the pack's. He watched Grace from the forest.

When a classmate of Grace's, Jack, is said to have been killed by the wolves, hunters are sent to kill the wolves. This is when Grace and Sam meet. Both human. When the werewolves change, they keep their eyes. Grace and Sam fall in love, but under harsh boundaries. As winter inches closer, Sam could change any time. And he may not change back in the spring. Meanwhile, Isabel, Jack's sister, suspects that Jack didn't die but was also bitten and turned into a werewolf. One of Grace's friends, Olivia, gets in a fight with her, and don't talk. When they do, Olivia acts strange, but Grace doesn't have an idea what may be going on. There's also the mystery of Grace. She was bitten, but never changed. Maybe there's a cure. And if there is, Sam and Jack want it.

9/10 I totally loved this book and am reading the sequel. It isn't for everyone though. It has a lot of romance, more than there is suspense, so if you're not a romance lover (like myself) you might find it boring. Also, if you're not a fan of fantasy creatures like werewolves, this may not be for you either, but I'm usually not one to read fantasy or science fiction and loved this.

Only the Good Spy Young

Only the Good Spy Young by Ally Carter is the fourth book of the Gallagher Girls Series.

After another busy semester as a junior at the Gallagher Academy, Cammie Morgan is with her friend, Bex, and her parents in London. Now that the Circle of Cavan, a terrorist group, is after her, she has strict security surrounding her. Cammie encounters Zach at an ice skating rink and he asks her if she's seen Mr. Solomon. She hasn't and then Zach leaves. Soon after, the lights go out and Mr. Solomon appears and tells Cammie to run. They end up on the tower bridge and Bex's parents tell Cammie he is a threat. Mr. Solomon makes Cammie promise to "follow the pigeons" then jumps off the bridge. Cammie is then interrogated by Agent Edward Townsend and later, she and Bex's family are sent to a safe house.

When they return to the Gallagher Academy, they find that security has been higher. All of the secret passageways have been blocked, except one only leading to the kitchen. Agent Townsend is now the new CoveOps teacher as Mr. Solomon can no longer be trusted. Cammie has also found it harder to trush Zach. She and her friends, Bex, Liz, and Macey have to figure out what Mr. Solomon meant on the bridge and if he really is a member of the Circle of Cavan and tie up many other loose ends. However, with answers comes dangerous missions.

10/10 I totally loved this book! It is my favorite in the series. There's a lot of suspense and mystery and romance. I would've never guessed what was going to happen next. I'm on edge waiting for the next book in the series, Out of Sight, Out of Time, which is coming out on March 20, 2012.

Don't Judge a Girl by her Cover

Don't Judge a Girl by her Cover by Ally Carter is the third book of the Gallagher Girls Series.

Cammie Morgan is about to start her junior year at the Gallagher Academy. But before school starts, she visits her friend, Macey McHenry, in Boston because her father is going to accept his nomination for vice president of the U.S. Soon though, Macey and Cammie find themselves in the midst of a kidnapper's plot with only their espionage skills to save them.

The Gallagher Academy doesn't feel that its students are safe since the incident in Boston. Shocking secrets and old flames seem to be lurking around every corner of the mansion. But Cammie and her friends, Liz, Bex, and Macey stuggle to answer questions. Who is after Macey? How can they keep their classmates safe?

9/10 This is my second favorite. I love all the spy work and suspense in this one, and a little romance as well. The books just keep getting better and better.

Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy

Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter is the second book of the Gallagher Girls Series.

Cammie is back for another semester at the Gallagher Academy after winter break. But first, Cammie is to be debriefed about her relationship with Josh in a secret location in an underground location in the middle of the Smithsonian. When she returns to school, she is happy to see Liz, Bex, and Macey again, but are annoyed because the East Wing has been off limits, adding ten minutes to the walk to their rooms. While snooping, Cammie and her friends find a picture of Mr. Solomon in a Blackthorne Institute for Boys t-shirt, which clears explains what he was saying when they overheard him say "black thorn" in the library.

On a CoveOps mission at the National Mall, they have to reach the ruby slippers exhibit by five-o-clock while practicing counter-surveillance. Cammie fails, like all her classmates except one, when Zach, a boy she believes to be normal, follows her to the exhibit. After the mission, fifteen boys, Zach included, and their teacher, Dr. Steve from the Blackthorne Academy For Boys take residence in the East Wing, which was, after all, not contaminated by fumes.

At a CoveOps/Culture and Assimilation exam, Cammie and Zach dance together. She has a slight clothing malfunction however, and tries to escape through a passageway and is surprised to find Zach waiting there. A Code Black occurs and Cammie gets blamed as Zach had mysteriously vanished when the alarms went off. On a Saturday trip to Roseville, Cammie sees Josh and DeeDee who is now his girlfriend. Zach tries to kiss Cammie, knowing Josh and DeeDee would be watching, but Cammie doesn't let him once he sees that Josh looks hurt. When they return to the school, someone had stolen the disk with information about all the alumni of the Gallagher Academy.

8.5/10 I love this one because it's Zach's first appearance. I like the budding romance and the suspense that still comes with the missions.

I'd Tell You I Love You, But then I'd have to Kill You

I'd Tell You I Love You, But then I'd have to Kill You by Ally Carter is the first book of The Gallagher Girls Series.

Cameron "Cammie" Morgan is a student at the Gallagher Academy For Exceptional Young Women, an all girl private boarding school for "gifted girls" but is really for espionage spies in training. Cammie and her friends, Rebecca "Bex" Baxter, and Elizabeth "Liz" Sutton, are going into their sophomore year at the academy. Then there's Macey McHenry. She goes to enroll at the Gallagher Academy as her last chance to enter a school, as she'd been kicked out of all of the other ones she attended. Macey is beautiful and rebellious and isn't really accepted by Cammie, Liz, and Bex, who have to share a room with her, at first.

In sophomore year, the girls have to take Covert Operations (CoveOps) which is taught by Joe Solomon, a new, hot teacher, but is also strict and tough. On their first mission, Cammie meets a regular boy named Josh. In order to not blow her cover, she tells Josh that she is home schooled, has a cat, and has lived in foreign countries. Josh and Cammie soon develop a steady relationship. Cammie lies to Josh to keep her cover, and sneaks out of school to go on dates. How long can she keep up the act without Josh, her mother, who is also the headmistress of the Gallagher Academy, or anyone else finding out?

7/10 This book was really good, but the reason that it isn't higher is because the other books I liked better. In my opinion, they showed Cammie's spy life better and have more suspense. But overall, I really loved this book, and it did get me reading the rest of the series.

Collage

Hey I made this random collage of my four favorite book series.

  • Cross my Heart and Hope to Spy
  • Don't Judge a Girl by her Cover
  • Only the Good Spy Young
  • Out of Sight, Out of Time (March 20, 2012)
-The Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins
  • The Hunger Games
  • Catching Fire
  • Mockingjay
-The Werewolves of Mercy Falls Series by Maggie Stiefvater
  • Shiver
  • Linger
  • Forever
-The Matched Series by Ally Condie
  • Matched
  • Crossed (November 1, 2011)
  • Unknown (November, 2012)
Yeah so for The Matched Series, the third book doesn't have a final title yet, so obviously they don't have a final cover (and the second book isn't even out yet), but I just wanted to let people know it is a trilogy. I especially love how each book of The Gallagher Girls series, Cammie wears a different colored plaid skirt, which is also the color of the spine of the cover. I also love The Werewolves of Mercy Falls covers with the color and the trees representing the season. I love Cassia's dress on the Matched cover, and the power of the cover of Crossed. And for The Hunger Games series, I love how the first book has the Mockingjay pin, the second has a phoenix type thing, and the third has an actual Mockingjay.

...I'm judging books by their cover. :-O Haha. Anyway, I've read all these books (except the ones that aren't out, Forever, and I'm reading Linger) and will probably post about those that haven't been yet.

Peace out ;-)
