The Dead and the Gone

The Dead and the Gone by Susan Pfeffer is the second book of The Last Survivors series.

Alex is a seventeen-year-old boy living in New York City. When the asteroid hit the moon, causing world-wide chaos and hardships, Alex's parents don't return. His father, Papi, was in Puerto Rico for a funeral when the asteroid hit and his mother was working her job in a hospital. With his parents gone, Alex has to take care of his younger sisters, Julie and Bri. Food is scarce, there are many floods, volcanic ash pollutes the air. People are dropping like flies. Alex is forced to do things for the best, whether he likes it or not.

8/10 This book was even more depressing than Life as we Knew it. It was still really good though. The Dead and the Gone is also told in diary entries, but from a third person omniscient point of view. This confused me at first, but when I Googled the book, it says that Susan Pfeffer couldn't imagine a seventeen-year-old boy keeping a diary. I can't say I can argue. Another thing to mention is that this book isn't a follow up to Life as we Knew it. It tells another person's life after the asteroid hit the moon. I really liked this book nonetheless.

Th1rteen R3asons Why (Jellybean Review)

So, Skittlez just did a review on the book Th1rteen R3asons Why, by Jane Asher. She said that she thought the book was OK.
I beg to differ.
My name is Jellybeans, and I loved this book.
Ok, I have a confession. The book was kind of slow at times. I admit that.
The thing is, I liked this book because of the types of books I tend to read. I have no idea why, but I love books when people die, and somebody, like a teenager, is dealing with all the changes that come with the death. I like more books with the siblings who die, and the other still live sibling doesn't realize what they had until it's gone. Or when someone is in a coma. That's always interesting. Now, I'm not some psychopath, I just like reading about that.
Anyhoo.
So this girl committed suicide, and now you get to figure out why. She is telling the reasons in her own words, and I have never read a book like that. It's always somebody assuming something, or searching about why, but here, this was different.
Sure, like Skittlez, I also enjoy reading about romances, and action, but I also love... (death? dead?)... books. Don't ask me why, because I don't know.
Okkkkk, that's why I BEGGED TO DIFFER.
K bye!

Th1rteen R3asons Why

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher follows Clay Jensen as he receives a mysterious box with his name on it. Inside the box are seven cassette tapes. When he listens to the first one, he finds out that these tapes were recorded by Hannah Baker, a girl that was one of his classmates...before she committed suicide. In each of the tapes Hannah talks about the thirteen people who had a part in her decision. The tapes are sent to those people to hear how they caused Hannah's suicide.

5.5/10 This book was okay. To be honest, I got kinda bored after a while. I don't think it's a bad book, but it just personally wasn't one I really liked. There wasn't really any action and any romance was really short term.
