Notes from the Midnight Driver
16 year old Alex cannot deal with his parents divorce because of his fathers cahoot with his third grade teacher. So when his mother moves on by going on her first date, Alex retaliates. He gets drunk, and plans to drive to his fathers house and burst in the house. Not only by drinking a boat load of vodka but also by taking his mother’s station wagon for a spin which lands him in his neighbor’s yard, with a damaged car, and a decapitated gnome. Of course, major consequences come, and they are doing 100 hours of community service, for $5 an hour. Alex is assigned to work in a retirement home, with the meanest, grumpiest of them all... Solomon Lewis. Solomon enjoys practical jokes, and Alex soon discovers, Jazz music. Meanwhile, Alex also may be falling in love with someone who could kill him with her finger, his best friend Laurie. Find out what happens, and if Alex completes his work. 5 out of 5 stars, and this book is a 2011 Rebecca Caudill.
