The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.... 2!!!

I know what you're thinking.
"Whoa, there's a second book?"
OR
"I wonder what that penguin is doing with a jackhammer..."
I, myself, was thinking the second one.

Well, for the FIRST question, YOU BET THERE IS!
As for the second question... I'm not even gonna tell you, because then you would probably tell on me and get me in trouble. Now we don't want that, do we?

THE SECOND SUMMER OF THE SISTERHOOD
After a first summer away from one another, four girls-Tibby, Carmen, Lena, and Bridget-find themselves in another adventure of a summer.
After Bridget, or Bee, finds out the five year’s worth of grandmas letters have been kept a secret, she sets off to Alabama to find this long-lost grandma, and to connect with her past, which means having to cope with her mother’s death. Meanwhile, Tibby's doing a filmmaking workshop in Virginia, and is getting a perspective on Baileys death, and Carmen is stuck at home, messing up her mother’s love life, and then reassembling it. And Lena, is finally getting over Kostos, until an unexpected visit, where all the emotions come flooding back to her.
This second book is even better than the first Sisterhood book, and the characters learn about themselves, and learn about others.

I love this author...

LAS vs. PA Press

Showdown time!!!
In my team at school, there is an intense competition going on.
It's a battle of the newspapers.
The LAS Report, or the PA Press.
The LAS Report stands for Language Arts and Stuff, and PA Press stands for... PA Press? Yaaa...
OK, the LAS Report mysteriously stopped, and the PA Press decided to take over. The PA Press in by anonymous authors, while the LAS Report is by known authors.

When the makers of the LAS Report saw this rip-off of it, they were not happy. It was their idea, and nobody should steal it.
Come on, LAS Report, PA Press. Come on, they even rhyme. WOOOOW.
LAS, PAPRESS. LAS, PAPRESS. LAS, PAPRESS. LAS, PAPRESS.

The LAS Report is coming back baby, better than ever.

Mwuhahahahahaaaa...

~JELLYBEANS~
P.S. BTW, if u didn't catch the drift, I like LAS better because 1. It was an original idea 2. It didn't make fun of anything, while the PA Press makes fun of the LAS, and 3. I am one of the authors of LAS... Haha...
Ok BYE!

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Yea, I know. Weird title. I don't care. Weird book. I don't care. It was an AWESOME weird.

This book is about four best friends, who have literally known each other since birth, separating for the summer for the first time in 15 years. Carmen is going to her dad's place and meets his new family, Lena goes to Greece to visit her grandparents with her younger sister, Bridget goes to a summer camp, and Tibby is stuck at home, working at the local convenience store. Every one of them is afraid to go their separate ways, but a pair of thrift-store jeans that fit all of them, even with their different body types, keep them close- whether they are together or apart. Each girl has her own adventures, and the magical traveling pants bring together those stories.

This was a fantastic book! It was interesting how the four different stories all tied up somehow. This was an amazing book, and I just put the second and third books on hold at the library, and the 1st movie on hold.
I gotta say, this was probably one of the greatest books I've read. WONDERFUL!
Read it. Pwease?

The Morganville Vampires Series

This series, The Morganville Vampires, is about a girl named Claire and her 3 friends. They are normal young adults in the area. They all have jobs, and Claire goes to Texas Praire University (TPU). Claire is dating Shane, and Eve is dating Micheal, and they have a happy life. Well, not really if you count vampires (vamps) running around and trying to suck your blood out 24/7. Yep. That's right. Vampires. The town was created especially for them, but quite a few humans live there too. And guess what! You can't leave! Almost everyone works for a vampire. For example, Claire works for a mad scientist vamp. He has gotten a little tempted, and drained his assistants, but Claire couldn't care less. She gets kudos from the founder, Amelie, for helping out. And she is really a Founder's pet. But anyway, Claire and her friends find adventure in every turn, and Rachel Caine does a phenomenal job writing about them in her books. Start off with Fade Out, where one girl threatens to take down the whole city! And Claire, Shane, Eve, and Micheal are stuck right in the middle of it... Read the series! I couldn't stop!

Battle Hymn of a Tiger Mother

Every good parent would want what's best for their children. The Chinese just do it differently. "Western" parents try to respect their child's wishes, encouraging them to follow their dreams. Chinese parents believe that the best way to lead your child to greatness is to discover and practice their inner talents, and arm them with knowledge, and preparing them for the future with skills and working habits, and inner confidence. This book dictates how Amy Chua, a true Asian Mother, raises her daughters, Sophia and Lulu the hard way- The Chinese Way.

Here are only a few things that Amy Chua would never allow her daughters to do:

• have a playdate

• be in a school play

complain about not being in a school play

• not be the #1 student in EVERY subject except gym and drama

• play any instrument other than the piano or violin

• not play the piano or violin

Lulu and Sophia actually never had any time to have a playdate, or have musical rehearsal. They were always too busy practicing the violin for up to 10 hours even at once, or perfecting their Mandarin speaking.

Take this scene from the book:

"According to Sophia, here are three things I actually said to her at the piano as I supervised her practicing:

1. Oh my God, you're just getting worse and worse.

2. I'm going to count to three, then I want musicality.

3. If the next time's not PERFECT, I'm going to take all your stuffed animals and burn them!"

But Amy pushes herself just as much as she pushed her daughter. She pushed herself to catch every single little flaw in their piano or violin playing, and made sure she helped her daughters to perfect it.

This book is an amazing eye-opener to see the differences between "Asian parenting" and "Western parenting". It teaches about the lessons that parents teach children, and the lessons that children teach parents, in the weirdest ways.

How successful are Sophia and Lulu? Do they succeed? Do they give up?

What do they do?!?!

I dont know!

Actually I do, I just dont feel like telling you that. J
